I'm Laura Kane, graphic, web, and UI designer specializing in redesigning existing products to ensure a smooth, enjoyable user experience while maintaining brand standards.
I begin a project by assessing the goals of the product I'm working on. Whether the goal is a more beautiful visual design, a more streamlined user experience, or simply getting more clicks, my designs take it into consideration.
Reynold's Community College needed the website for this specialty school redesigned from the ground up to achieve better navigation, clarity, and aesthetics.
By reorganizing the information already on the website, I was able to achieve these goals in a new clean, more concise design that followed brand guidelines.
Before I could begin adding Reynold's brand colors and imaging, I needed to nail down the flow of the site, which I did using a wireframe for each of the three main sizes.
As part of the design, I included additional pages such as the career outlook page, as well as program curriculum. Additionally, I provided customizable assets in a modular fashion that could be implemented and used on any page as needed.
Of course, no website design is complete without a mobile option. With the smaller screen space, I replaced the regular red submenu with a sliding one, which can be easily tucked away to preserve pixels.
